 On the second day of the 15th Festival of High Temperatures, the results of the International Tea Bowl Competition were announced! This year’s theme: Ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会) – One time, one meeting

 The international jury consisted of:

* Dominique Coenen (BE) – La Born Ceramics Center

* Dávid Valovič (SK) – artist and designer

* Šimon Valovič (SK) – artist and designer

* Dr. hab. Joanna Teper, Prof. –  E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław (PL), Faculty of Ceramics and Glass

* Marianne Wesołowska-Eggimann (PL) – E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Faculty of Ceramics and Glass

…after long deliberations, the jury awarded the following prizes and an honorary mention:

 1st Prize – 1500 PLN: Bittl Petra (DE)

The first prize was awarded for the perfect symbiosis of minimalist white surfaces contrasted with original, subtle reliefs creating intriguing light and shade tensions in the form.

 2nd Prize – 1000 PLN: Dziekan Michał (PL)

The second prize was awarded for successful experiments with the free transformation of a form made of layered colored masses.

 3rd Prize – 500 PLN: Weis Agnieszka (PL)

The third  prize was awarded for a successful interpretation of a classic cup combined with a painterly twist.

 Honorary Mention: Węglarska Marta (PL)

The jury awarded an honorable mention for the subtle elegance of the cups’s form emphasized by a painterly accent.

 Winners also received special prizes from our Sponsors:

* vouchers and gifts from 1240° Design 1240.design

* tools from Biroskop Biroskop

* subscriptions to “Szkło i Ceramika” Szkło i Ceramika quarterly, which will publish a feature on the competition and its winners!

 The jury had a tough decision — we received 145 entries from all over the world, including Japan, Germany, France, Taiwan, Greece, Italy, Slovakia, China, Ukraine, Sweden, South Africa, Serbia, Finland, Cyprus, Hungary, the UK, Switzerland, Spain, the USA, Vietnam, and of course, Poland!

 85 outstanding tea bowls made it to the second stage

 The exhibition is open until October 1, 2025, at the E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław(CSU.CI Building, Traugutta 19/21, glass display case, ground floor)

 All participants will soon receive an email with information about the competition results and next organizational steps. Each of them will also receive a certificate of participation as well as a link to photos from the exhibition.
