During the 11th Festival Şirin Koçak Özeskici – a Bulgarian artist will demonstrate a Naked Raku technique. She will show how to cover the objects with ceramic mass and remove it after firing and reduction in order to achieve a net of decorative cracking painted with smoke on the naked surface of clay. By using smoke and direct contact with clay the artist will try encourage the Festival’s audience to love the ceramic material.
Şirin Koçak Özeskici – was born in 1978 in Razgrad, Bulgaria. In 2009, she received her Master’s degree at the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the University of Izmir, where she currently works as an assistant professor. Her interests include: porcelain made in Jingdezhen, Chinese porcelain glaze and Naked Raku, on which she conducted a lot of research. She has presented her work at four individual exhibitions and has participated in many group exhibitions and symposia.
