At the Festival Coral Penelope Lambert will present her performance Nature‘s speech. It will be the climax of the iron pour on Saturday 23rd, at 21.30. Lambert will carry out area research to create a series of site specific glyphs in Iron and Stone. During her performance the artist will fill this carved channel with molten iron at 1500 ̊ C. The performance explores forces of nature, including effects of heat and time when combining elemental materials. Here you can see some of her art pieces.
Coral Penelope Lambert – is internationally recognized for working in cast metal as well as producing large scale outdoor sculpture. She is currently an Associate Professor of Sculpture at Alfred University where she has also directed the National Casting Center Foundry since 2007. During her 25 year career, her work has been exhibited at the Barbican Center, London, Museum of Steel Sculpture in Ironbridge, UK, Franconia Sculpture Park, MN, Salem Art Works, NY, Pirrkala Sculpture Park in Finland, HuiAn, China, The National Metals Museum in Memphis, Governors Island, Manhattan, Carrie Furnaces, Pittsburgh and Salem Castle, Germany. Her most recent Fire + Iron Earthworks ‘Volcano Furnace’ are sited at Pedvale Sculpture Park in Lativa and Il Giardino di Daniel Spoerri in Italy.
