Simon and Rebecca Eccles will present methods of creating murrine ornaments in coloured, glass material.
For the first time our audience will have a chance to see the process of creating mosaic patterns in vessel forms with the use of the murrine elements.
Simon Eccles (born 1972) – master of glassworking techniques. He has been working with glass for 25 years starting with his internship in the studio of Michael Harris on the Wight island. He has created glass objects for the studios in the Shetland Islands and Malta and taught in schools in the Czech Republic and the USA. Simon has also taught at the University of Wolverhampton and Sunderland, where he also worked as a technician in the glassworking techniques. He has taken part in many exhibitions and his works are in collections in Broadfield Hpuse Glass Museum (Kingswinford), State Chateau Lemberk (the Czech Republic) and in Northlands Creative Glass (Caithness). He has cooperated with many world renowned artists and different Glassworks. He has recently taken up working with the murrine technique and is inspired by works of Carlo Scarpa and Richard Marquis.
